Description
The town of Cascade Locks, Oregon, is a little over 40 miles upriver from Portland. Because hydroelectric dams flooded traditional Native American fishing sites on the Columbia River, the Locks are now used to support dipnet fishing platforms. The rusting steel structure and cable in the foreground are left from the machinery that operated the locks to enable boats and barges to travel upriver and downriver.
