Wenatchee River flows through steep-sided Tumwater Canyon and Bavarian-themed Leavenworth, past fruitt orchards surrounding Peshastin, Dryden, and Cashmere in the Wenatchee River Valley to a confluence with the Columbia River at Wenatchee. Between Peshastin and Dryden, a diversion dam sends part of the river to the High Line Canal. In May 1902, W T Clark was awarded a water right to divert water from the Wenatchee River. Construction of the hand-dug ditch between Dryden and Wenatchee was completed in 1903.
