Waypoint Park occupies Bellingham waterfront land formerly owned by Georgia-Pacific and used as a paper mill. Some of the old structures used in the manufacture of toilet paper, such as a huge iron acid ball, remain as public art. Several buildings still stand, though fenced off, and access is prohibited. An old granary building dominates the east end of the park, repainted and remodeled and now the home of several shops and a cafe. The park boasts a bicycle pump track, and an outdoor cafe that serves beer and music. On one side, a construction safety fence offers a series of colorful murals that are repainted periodically. A children's playground sits just below The Granary.
